The Northwest Catholic Counseling Center has a special commitment to disenfranchised single women and mothers. Overwhelming odds face this population:

• One in five Oregon children is born to a mother with less than 12 years education.
• One-third of these mothers are single
• Oregon has the third highest divorced population in the U.S.
• Children in single parent households are three times more likely to quit school, become pregnant and commit crimes.
• The number of uninsured children under the age of 18 has grown over the last several years.
• 18% of employed Oregonians are without any health insurance.

Each year, hundreds of women and many local organizations and businesses come together to guarantee these women and their children will receive:

• Individual and family counseling
• Community connections (jobs, education, financial and legal support)
• Effective parenting and life skills
• Supportive environment for change
• School consultation
