Spring Appeal - Creative Ways to Make a Difference

I have come to firmly believe in people’s generosity of heart and desire to make a difference, to leave a legacy. For that reason, I confidently turn to you in the name of our struggling clients at The Northwest Catholic Counseling Center desperate to reclaim their lives.

Marilyn is just such a client. After her divorce, she successfully fought cancer but that battle cost her not only her energy but her savings as well. Her struggle with a deep depression is now complicating her ability to effectively parent, holding her back from meaningful employment and a desire to return to her self-sufficient ways. I assured her, as well as the many others who come to our doors that help is available. As you can tell by the return envelope, I am confident of your generosity and continued partnership.

Spring is filled with expectations of new life and new possibilities. It is the time of year when we plant seeds knowing these seeds will some day blossom. Besides inviting you to help the Marilyns in our lives, I would like to plant a few other seeds for your consideration.

With a little creative thought, I think help, change and hope comes from surprising places and in surprising ways. Listed below are a few new ways to help make a difference throughout the year.

  1. Consider a gift to The Northwest Catholic Counseling Center when a friend, colleague or loved one dies. When making such a memorial, a card is always sent in your name to the family. A birthday gift in honor of the person who has everything is also a way to celebrate life. And again, a letter of acknowledgement is sent.
  2. Gift mileage points or credit card reward points add up. You may think your 1,000 points won’t amount to much, but combined with others it will make a significant difference. Equipment, supplies for the office and for the Circle of Strength can be purchased.
  3. Remember the Center in your estate planning or will.
  4. Direct your United Way gift in the fall to the Center through the Donor Option Plan.
  5. Consider being a sponsor for the Circle of Strength Luncheon

If you have questions regarding any of these ideas, please feel free to contact Barbara George our Development Director or me at 503-253-0964.
May this spring find you filled with the same hope and joy you bring to others.

Gratefully,

Sr. Barbara Kennedy, OSM - Executive Director
