Therapy

Individual Therapy

Individual TherapyThis form of therapy is designed to treat the individual. Clients come to The Northwest Catholic Counseling Center for a variety of reasons. Frequent issues include: depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, difficult childhood and family experiences, relationship issues, loss of relationships, grief, anger management concerns, etc. Individuals also come to therapy to achieve personal growth and to improve self-image. Our approach to treatment is highly individualized and takes into consideration the emotional, physical and spiritual dimensions of each person.

Couples Therapy

Couples TherapyAll couples experience conflict, tension and poor communication some time in their relationships. Rather than being stumbling blocks, these issues, if appropriately dealt with, provide opportunities to strengthen the relationship. Common marital problems include betrayal, managing anger, sex, money and discipline of the children. Other frequent problems are life transitions, retirement, and the “empty nest” syndrome. Couples therapy focuses on helping the couple develop communication and relationship skills, with the goal of resolving conflict and deepening intimacy. The therapist works to provide a safe environment where issues can be discussed and resolved.

Family Therapy

Family TherapyThis type of therapy focuses on working with two or more members of the family. In family therapy, the whole family is viewed as a system that maintains and reinforces emotional and behavioral patterns. Family therapy might be appropriate when a divorce has occurred, when families are blending together, when the family has suffered a loss or a trauma or if one family member has a problem that is affecting everyone in the family. Working with the therapist, you and your family will examine your ability to solve problems and express thoughts and emotions.

Child Therapy

Individual TherapyIt is common for children to experience problems as they grow and mature. They encounter struggles with parents, peers, teachers, as well as the natural pressures of growing up and fitting in. At times, a child’s response to life pressures or the severity of these pressures warrants professional attention. Our child therapists possess specialized knowledge and skills enabling them to formulate appropriate interventions for your child. Parental involvement is crucial to every child’s treatment.
