Jessica Larson-Wu (Jessie), Licensed Professional Counselor (she/her/hers) graduated from Lewis & Clark Graduate school of counseling in 2012 with an MA in community counseling. Jessie has worked mainly in non-profit mental health agencies for the past 10 years including working with children/families, college students, and domestic violence survivors. She has experience working with a variety of different populations and enjoys working with folks experiencing anxiety, trauma, relationship concerns, and shame. She sees clients as the experts in themselves and feels that a key part of her work is creating a relationship where clients can explore their stories and develop skills that feel useful to them. She sees children/teens, adults, and couples.
Jessie works from an intersectional feminist viewpoint, seeing individuals’ various identities as intersecting (such as gender identity, race/ethnicity, socioeconomic status). She utilizes a person-centered approach with interventions from somatic therapies, ACT, mindfulness, and trauma informed care. For relationship therapy, she uses attachment theory and Gottman couple therapy. She believes in the importance of identifying stories and societal messages that may be impacting us. She strives to help individuals recognize their innate worth while recognizing the significance of culture, family, and the impact of systems. She provides an LGBTQ affirmative approach to psychotherapy which recognizes the immense value of each LGBTQ person’s well-being.
Jessie offers therapy in English and can speak some Mandarin Chinese.
