October 15, 2016
On October 15th of each year we remember Pregnancy and Infant Loss Day. It is a day to commemorate the death of all children lost through miscarriage, stillbirth, SID and other tragedies. It will always be a time that parents will feel robbed of years that should have been filled with joyful expectations, hopes and plans.
The depth of loss that parents and grandparents experience is profound and difficult to comprehend. Although friends and family members can’t make the pain go away, we are able to continue to be there for them, acknowledge their loss and respectfully listen to their pain.
Even with supportive friends, grieving parents feel alone in their loss. For that reason multiple support groups have emerged to help assist the grieving parents. Consider The Compassionate Friends or First Candle websites. Families sharing very similar losses support and participate in these organizations.
The staff of The Northwest Catholic Counseling Center prays that the God of compassion and consolation be with you as you struggle into the days ahead. May God wipe away every tear and give you strength for living, remembering that God embraces you and all your pain.
